Bunning: Northup's a "true Conservative" ...

... "with a potentially broad base of support [and] who can appeal to minorities, women, independents and even Democrats ... in the most liberal part of state." In reaching the conclusion, Bunning observed that Northup was elected in Jefferson County five times and was defeated in November by a margin of only 6,000 votes, which he contrasted with his own 2004 re-election when he lost Jefferson County by 62,000 votes. Gov. Fletcher reacted to the news of Bunning's endorsement by stating that he respects the right of each individual to decide whom to support in this year's governor's race and he does not consider Bunning's endorsement of Northup a snub.

of course, in those general elections she always got a lot of crossover votes, getting between 100 and 120 thousand votes each time i think.

in the 2003 primary, rebecca jackson got roughly 20K out of the 30K Republican gubernatorial votes cast in Jefferson County. Northup should pull out at least that many in 2007. Fletcher won the R Primary in 2003 with roughly 90,000 votes total.

David, here's what the article you linked to had to say about a National Right to Life (un)endorsement for Jeff Hoover: "Northup's running mate, state Rep. Jeff Hoover of Jamestown, wasn't endorsed by Right to Life in the 2006 election because he didn't respond to its survey. Hoover ran unopposed."
I hope this answers your question.

I operate my blog to neither favor or disfavor anyone or group. Therefore, I will not act as spokesperson for anyone or group either. Your first question referenced (and linked) a newspaper article. All I did was go to your referenced article to easily find the answer to your question. Your follow up question, however, is not so easily answered, except for me to point you back to your newspaper article which qualified the un(endorsement) with this statement: "Hoover ran unopposed". This qualification will lead me to conclude, logically, that Jeff Hoover did not feel a need to answer the NRTL survey because he was not facing any opponent(s). Any more definite answer(s) will have to come from Mr. Hoover himself, I'm afraid.

The survey would have taken five minutes, he could have an intern fill it out (which they all do) and it would have avoided questions like this in future campaigns... Again, I ask, why not fill it out?

You are right it would have avoided questions such as you pose here, but now he has opposition maybe he'll fill one out!

He had no opposition, therefore no campaign, therefore no interns on the same campaign.

Osi - you'll find this guy spamming virtually every blog with the same cut and paste arguments. I don't know how many times I've been over it. Might be more than one of them with the same cut and paste and same responses when people call them out.
