It is as if our Legislators have NO important subject to legislate.

A new bill (HB 114) has been introduced in the legislature to allow University and College students "to ensure that persons may keep firearms in vehicles on university property if they do not remove the firearm from the vehicle."

My question is why bother and why is this bill necessary, particularly since the bill requires that the firearm NOT be removed from the vehicle?

This is one legislation that leaves one shaking one's head and that inquiring minds want to know about!

If the Lawmakers want to impress me and many of us, let them pass a law that allows citizens to bring concealed weapons into Capitol offices.

Now that's a thought.

This bill is a necessary first step to allowing people with concealed carry permits to carry guns on campus. After this bill passes this year, the new bill will be ready to go next year.

I do not know whether to rejoice -- or cry about your future prediction.

Could there be several "Virginia Tech."s in Kentucky's future, I wonder?

Osi,
Virginia Tech wasn't perpetrated by a law-abiding concealed carry permit holder. He was going to go on his shooting spree regardless of the law. The point to focus on is if law-abiding citizens are able to carry guns on campus, the next whacko shooter may not get so many victims.

That may be true, but why limit it to schools? If your logic is correct, then we should NOT limit where you can carry concealed period, -- or are wachos limited to schools?

Universities and Colleges are near unanimous, if not unanimous, in their opposition to the bill.

The opposition of the workers at the public colleges and universities is not very persuasive for me.

Private businesses who want to prohibit possession of guns are one thing, but when you prohibit gun possession on a college campus you are only stopping the law-abiding citizens.

Are you suggesting there are NO "law-abiding citizens" at private businesses?
