Top CENTCOM Admiral apruptly resigns.
"The top U.S. military commander for the Middle East resigned Tuesday amid speculation about a rift over U.S. policy in Iran," so says the AP.
No surprises there, as the Admiral, who is General Petraeus' boss, is said to be miffed at the way the Iraq war is being fought, and is very critical of the General, who he had unkind words for, as was reported on this blog earlier (search archives).
Defense Secretary Robert Gates said that Adm. William J. Fallon's resignation was "the right thing to do."
That says it all, folks. Expect General Patraeus to slide into that post.
