Barack Obama "Respects" California Court Same Sex Marriage ruling, Says Issue Best Left To States.
Here's an excerpt form Obama's campaign press release:
"Barack Obama has always believed that same-sex couples should enjoy equal rights under the law, and he will continue to fight for civil unions as President. He respects the decision of the California Supreme Court, and continues to believe that states should make their own decisions when it comes to the issue of marriage."
My comment: No one (certainly NOT me) quarrels with the notion that gay couples should enjoy equal rights under law as civil unions, as long as states, which do NOT want gay marriages, will NOT have that concept FORCED upon them.
