Louisville Courier-Journal Editorial Slays A Metaphor, Likens Mitch McConnell To A Great White Shark And Bruce Lunsford To A Mudpuppy!
The Courier-Journal, in its zeal to do ANOTHER negative Editorial against Senator Mitch McConnell, has just MURDERED a metaphor.
But to give the Editorial Writer credit, he or she first acknowledged that "Editorial writers are supposed to be expert with words, but sometimes words fail us."
I submit that this is one such time when "words fail" the Editorial Writer.
In trying to suggest that Senator Mitch McConnell will "sling mud" against his opponent, Bruce Lunsford, the C-J likens the Senator to a great white shark, and Bruce Lunsford to a mudpuppy!
Here's the quote:
It's the great white shark complaining about a mudpuppy.
You see, Great White Sharks live in warm waters, seas and oceans at the top.
Mudpuppies, on the other hand, are EXTREMELY slimy amphibians, which live on the bottoms of lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams, and never leave the water.
So which sea animal sounds like it is FREE of political slime and mud?
And which one would you rather have?
I, for one, prefer the one that's NOT "SLIMY" and is NOT a "bottom dweller".
You get the picture, don't you?
