Not over until Tony Rezko says it's over
In all the rush to get Hillary Clinton out of the primary race by the MSM, I remember back to that great movie THE HUSTLER with Paul Newman. Newman's character is playing a marathon pool game with Minnesota Fats (Jackie Gleason) and is up by some astronomical sum and his backer is begging him to quit. " It ain't over till Minnesota Fats says it's over!" the cocky Fast Eddie Felton says, and proceeds to blow all his money.
Interestingly, one of the key figures in the Tony Rezko corruption trial in Chicago is Fast Eddie Vrdolyak, the legendary Windy City politico, who took his nickname from Newman's character.
The trial involves an elaborate kickback/extortion scheme in Illinois state government that goes back to the former Republican governor. ( That, I am sure, is the only reason why the twit of a US Attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald, was pushing this case anyway, only he got a lot more than he bargained for, not just George Ryan's Republicans but Rob Blagojevich's Dems, including maybe Obama, were caught up in the investigative dragnet and plea bargains)
Final arguments begin May 12, and the betting is Rezko will be found guilty. Most likely he will then make a deal and hand over Blagojevich who is already facing calls for impeachment. Rezko, as a long time sponsor and partner of old Barry Obama may also have something on him as well. So, all things considered, it ain't really over with the Democrats until Tony Rezko says it's over, i.e., whether he flips on Obama.
I have my suspicions, but if you are Hillary Clinton, no sense getting out now when it all may come crashing down for Obama, long before August. In the spirit of Fast Eddie, it's time order up some more bottles of JTS Brown and take break. This game is going on for quite a while longer.
