We Begin Our Candidate Endorsements In The Fifth And Sixth Congressional Districts. We Choose Hal Rogers For The Fifth; Ben Chandler For The Sixth.
Some may say our picks are no brainers since Hal Rogers and Ben Chandler have no primary opponents, and we would agree -- partly.
We would agree partly because it is true the two have no opposition, but we could hardly envision a scenario where we would NOT have picked those two in their primaries -- but then again anything is possible.
The Democrats are not running any candidates against Hal Rogers -- so he walks back into office.
That, however, is not the case with Ben Chandler, who faces a Republican candidate in the fall.
The blog will not make an endorsement on the Republican side, as we were unable to decide which candidate to support.
I watched the candidates KET debates and I was met with two candidates who either appealed or disappointed me SIMULTANEOUSLY with their stands on issues.
One sounded more Liberal on issues (especially on immigration) than the other, but the other sounded like he was reading from a prepared text, repeating the same mantra over and over again. The person who prepared the text might have just appeared and read the text and spared us the agony.
Anyway, we leave it to the voters of the 6th district to figure out for themselves who they need to choose to run against Ben Chandler in the fall. We are unable to make the choice ourselves.
Up next, tomorrow, the 4th and 3rd Congressional District endorsements.
