Talking About Changing Course, Former Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert QUITS Senate Aide Job.

Read more from the C-J, with excerpts below:

Former Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert has resigned as a member of the Senate Republican leadership staff.

Senate President David Williams, R-Burkesville, said this morning that Nighbert resigned about 10 days ago to take a job in with a company in Eastern Kentucky. Williams said he did not know the company’s name.

...

His resignation comes amid an FBI investigation related to the contract award processes of the Transportation Cabinet during the Fletcher administration.

Officials of Gov. Steve Beshear’s Transportation Cabinet have said that since early this year the FBI has been reviewing cabinet records. One former cabinet engineer said she was asked by the FBI about possible leaks of confidential project cost estimates to bidders before bids were taken on contracts.

Stay tuned, as there is likely more to this story than meets the eye.
