The South, or Confederates, were for slavery (racism) and the North was against slavery. The South used the Confederate flag as their symbol -- a symbol of racism -- before and during the Civil War. Therefore, when the South lost the war, slavery was abolished, the states became united, then there was no need for separate flags. I don't understand why people don't understand why the Confederate flag is just as offensive as a swastika.
