Why symbolic? Was it symbolic to fight and die to end slavery while democrats fought to expand it? Was it symbolic when Democrats opposed desegregation and integration?

History reveals that Democrats lynched, burned, mutilated and murdered thousands of blacks and completely destroyed entire towns and communities occupied by middle class Blacks, including Rosewood, Florida, the Greenwood District in Tulsa Oklahoma, and Wilmington, North Carolina to name a few. Were those just symbolic?

I'll tell you what, answer this question. After exclusively giving the Democrats their votes for the past 35 years, the average African American cannot point to one piece of civil rights legislation sponsored solely by the Democratic Party that was specifically designed to eradicate the unique problems that African Americans face today. Can you?

For many purposes, the OLD Democratic Party became the NEW Republican Party -- NOT to say that the Democratic Party is without its racists but the Republican Party has borrowed the OLD Democrats' play book, and I am NOT happy.

Their selection of Mike Steele as Chair,. was a forgone conclusion. They set Blacks up to swallow this near meaningless gesture, but I'm keeping my mouth closed for that matter!

The party wrote the book on racial politics as a way to FRIGHTEN and scare voters into voting for their candidates.

The divide and conquer tactic worked for Democrats back then, Republicans until POTUS Barack Obama's election.

The country can NO longer fall for it, other than in some states beyond the Mason-Dixon lines, and that is the reason why the Republican Party runs the DEATH risk of being a SOUTHERN regional party UNLESS it REPENTS and changes its ERRANT ways.

Democrats gave up on FEAR politics, Republicans embraced it, but it is NOT too late for them to REJECT it!

Can you give me an example of Republicans using "...racial politics as a way to FRIGHTEN and scare voters into voting for their candidates?"

Have you been away for the past years, including POTUS Barack Obama's campaign?

I ran for office here in Kentucky, and I can AUTHORITATIVELY speak from personal experience!

If it isn't too much trouble I'd like to hear details of your personal experiences. What happened?

No need to rehash it, I am past it. I just want the party of my hero, Abraham Lincoln to, once again, act like it, and I will continue to call out the party until it does!
