Senator Jim Bunning Continues Feud With Senator Mitch McConnell, Blames Him For Lack Of Campaign Fundraising.

Read more here, or excerpts below:

U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning accused Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell again yesterday of trying to derail his fundraising efforts, this time by soliciting money for his own campaign account just as Bunning is gearing up efforts for his race next year. ...

In a conference call yesterday with reporters, Bunning acknowledged the impact of the economy on his fundraising and added:

"And my senior senator (McConnell) also sent out his first mailing for (his campaign in) 2014. Just as I refrained from doing it for two years (while McConnell was actively raising money for re-election), he sent out his, so you know where he stands."

... McConnell, a Republican who is Kentucky's senior senator, is still trying to raise money to wipe out more than $2 million in debt from his 2008 race against Democrat Bruce Lunsford.

Bunning has said he will reassess his decision to run after the second fundraising quarter ends in June.

... "We're finding it more difficult to raise money because of McConnell and Cornyn."

And he again accused the two of trying to recruit Kentucky Senate President David Williams to run against him.

Williams, R-Burkesville, met with senatorial committee staff members about a month ago. A McConnell staff member made a phone call for Williams, but Williams has said the meeting took place at his request and not McConnell's

"It was Billy Piper, McConnell's chief of staff, who forced Cornyn to accept David Williams when he came here," Bunning said.

Piper declined to comment on that, as well as on Bunning's charge that McConnell is trying to dry up his fundraising.

Bunning also talked yesterday about how distant he and McConnell have become.

Just over two weeks ago the two shared a table at a Lincoln Day Dinner in Corbin. Bunning said yesterday that he and McConnell said "hello" and nothing else.

What about "goodbye?"

"No, we didn't say 'goodbye' because I got distracted to go around and talk to other people down in Corbin," he said. "I talked to the real power in Corbin, (5th District Republican U.S. Rep.) Harold Rogers."

Editor's comment: This spectacle is getting so HARD to watch.

It's kinda like a train wreck that is about to happen, because the train is coming FAST down the tracks, and a big rig is stuck on the tracks in front of it, and it can't be dislodged or moved out of the way!

*SIGH*
