Dr. Jack Ditty announces Candidacy for State Senate in District 18
Bellefonte, KY – Dr. Jack Ditty of Greenup County was unanimously elected as the Republican nominee to run in the special election for the State Senate seat vacated by Senator Charlie Borders in District 18. This district covers Bracken, Carter, Greenup, Lewis, Mason and Robertson counties.
“I am excited to travel the 18th Senate District and listen to the ideas and concerns of the people. Right now Kentuckians are hurting, unemployment is at a 26 year high, health care costs are rising and government spending continues to spiral out of control. I will bring fiscal responsibility and innovative solutions to Frankfort when tackling our state’s toughest problems,” said Ditty.
A native of Ashland, Dr. Ditty returned home after medical school in 1981 to open the first dermatology practice in Northeastern Kentucky. For close to three decades, Dr. Ditty has been a leading advocate for improving the health of citizens in the region. For 29 years, he has operated a solo, private medical practice and worked as a medical staff member at King’s Daughters Medical Center and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Since 1997, he has also hosted a local cable television program called “Your Health with Dr. Ditty” which reaches more than 330,000 homes in Eastern Kentucky, Southern Ohio and West Virginia.
Dr. Ditty is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his medical internship and residency at Emory University.
Dr. Ditty and his wife Juanita have six children. In his free time, he enjoys coaching youth soccer and tennis in Greenup County.
The special election is set for Tuesday, August 25, 2009.
