Dan Mongiardo Sends Out Email Regarding Kentucky's "Son Of A Bitch" Jack Conway. Read Email.
Dear Friend,
At this past weekend's legendary Fancy Farm picnic, I shared my passion for standing up for working families, protecting Kentuckians from unnecessary energy costs, and fighting for healthcare reform.
Watch Daniel's Fancy Farm speech here.
In contrast, my primary opponent seemed lost his cool under the political pressure. Veteran political reporter Al Cross summed it up this way:
Mongiardo won the week-end. Mongiardo's strong attacks on Conway's support of cap-and-trade legislation (Conway is now waffling somewhat) and for catering to "the silver spoon crowd," combined with Conway's use of the words "hell" and "son-of-a-bitch"...were the talk of Kentucky. (Read the article)
As Al Cross points out, my differences with Jack Conway go beyond which words we find appropriate to use at a church picnic. Jack supports "cap-and-trade," (see Courier-Journal article) which will increase the cost of coal-resulting in higher electric rates and the loss of thousands of jobs. Like Governor Beshear, l oppose "cap and trade' because it will hurt our families and our economy.
Our political strengths are different too.
Some voters support me because I stood up and took on Jim Bunning in 2004 when the Bush/Bunning economic policies were hurting Kentucky families.
Many support me because I have been Governor Beshear's partner in cleaning up Frankfort, expanding children's healthcare, and making progress in difficult times. Many of those who supported Governor Beshear and me in 2007 have joined Governor Beshear in endorsing my candidacy for US Senate this year.
And others support me because as a doctor, State Senator, and Lt. Governor, I have
been a leader in improving healthcare. How much you make and where you live should never determine your medical care. Every Kentuckian deserves affordable medical care and that's what I will fight for in the Senate.
I believe that my background and experience explain my double-digit lead in the polls over Conway. But I will hand it to Jack; his ability to raise significant funds from New York to California gives him advantages in running a campaign that I simply do not have.
We have the winning message. We will have the winning campaign if I can turn to supporters like you to help me get our message out. Please consider making a generous contribution at this time - $35, $50, $100 or whatever you can give would make a real difference.
Thank you for your consideration,
Daniel
P.S. Jack's outburst at Fancy Farm calls into question his judgment, but ultimately we will be judged on the positions we take and the values we stand up for. Your contribution will allow me to put forward my views on the critical issues that need to be debated in this election.
