Jack Ditty, MD, Receives Support from State’s Physicians

Kentucky Physicians PAC Says His Healthcare Leadership is Needed
Louisville, KY – Kentucky Physicians PAC (KPPAC), the political action arm of the Kentucky Medical Association, has announced its support for Doctor Jack Ditty, in his quest to represent Kentucky’s 18th Senate District. Commenting on the decision for support, KPPAC Chairman Thomas E. Bunnell, MD, said, “Jack Ditty has been a leader in the practice of medicine and healthcare delivery for nearly 30 years. Considering healthcare is the most pressing issue facing our nation right now, we need Jack’s leadership in Frankfort to ensure patient care comes first.”

If elected, Jack Ditty would be the only physician member of the Kentucky Senate. While a majority of the debate over healthcare is currently focused at the national level, nearly a quarter of the bills introduced during each session of the Kentucky General Assembly address the issue. Doctor Bunnell added, “With that kind of emphasis on healthcare in the state legislature, I can’t think of a better person than Doctor Jack Ditty to represent the interests of citizens in the 18th Senate District.”

Since the announcement of his campaign for the special election slated for August 25, Doctor Ditty has indicated that healthcare would be his top priority. Commenting on KPPAC’s support, Doctor Ditty said, “I am honored to receive the support of my fellow physicians. It’s important to me that they understand how strongly I feel about protecting patients’ rights to quality healthcare. Considering 30 percent of the Senate’s current members are lawyers and none are physicians, I believe the Senate can benefit from my expertise as a physician.

Issues cited as important to KPPAC’s decision for support for Doctor Ditty include: reforms that will ease health insurance burdens on families and physicians, medical liability reform that will reduce the cost of healthcare; and Medicaid protections that will ensure Kentucky’s indigent and children maintain access to care. “These are issues affecting all Kentuckians every day,” Doctor Bunnell said. “I strongly urge physicians statewide and the citizens of the 18th Senate District, who find these issues important, to support Jack Ditty’s campaign.” Learn more about or contribute to Doctor Ditty’s campaign at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dr-Jack-Ditty/120095750744.
