By Carolyn Kaster
Former Maryland Republican governor Bob Ehrlich has won a rematch against the man who ousted him from office in 2006, Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley.
In a race that divided the GOP's 2008 running mates, Sen. John McCain's pick, Bob Ehrlich, won Maryland's Republican gubernatorial primary.
Highlighting the intraparty rift that has been the big story in GOP primaries all year, McCain, the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, backed Ehrlich in the contest. His vice presidential pick, Sarah Palin, endorsed Brian Murphy.
Ehrlich's win is a victory for the GOP establishment and earns him a rematch with Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley. Four years ago, O'Malley bounced Ehrlich from the governor's mansion; now Ehrlich is hoping to return the favor.
