Louisville Courier Journal Writer Sees "[Nancy] Pelosi's Fine Example". I'm LMAO!

Pelosi's fine example

Believe it or not, Nancy Pelosi is not running for office in Kentucky or Indiana. Still, there she is — boo! — the all-purpose bogeywoman of the right, showing up in more political ads than anyone could shake a stick at. Heck, she's on TV more often than Lucy these days.

But make no mistake — the Republicans don't love Nancy. The GOP blames the Speaker of the House for everything but the sinking of the Titanic.

Perhaps the real problem is that instead of being a failure, as they try to paint her, Mrs. Pelosi has been too successful as speaker, and she has prevailed against daunting odds by cobbling together enough votes to pass legislative packages that fell short in the past. The mother and grandmother who wears statement jewelry and chic suits was able to leap the GOP stonewall — in heels, thank you, if not in a single bound.

That's got to irk some powerful people and interests. So, Speaker Pelosi shows up in ad after ad, as the wild-eyed spoiler of the American dream, as the well-dressed usherette for a socialist future.

Please.

Some facts: Mrs. Pelosi comes from a political family; her father and brother served as mayor of Baltimore (her father served in Congress, as well). She is married and the mother of five, grandmother of eight. She is Catholic. She followed her family tradition of public service by working a variety of political positions before running for elective office — and that was only after her youngest child was a high school senior — as a politician who favored workers' rights, women's rights, gay rights and health care rights, among other components of the American Dream. She represents the 8th Congressional District of California — yes, as her foes hiss, that's San Francisco. In 2007, she made history when she was elected the first woman speaker of the House of Representatives.

What part of that outstanding biography does the bash-Pelosi bandwagon resent?
