Mammoth Cave offering free tours this weekend
MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. (AP) -- Mammoth Cave National Park is opening up its Mammoth Passage cave tours for free visits again this weekend.
The offer runs throughout the three-day holiday weekend, Saturday through Monday, and the tours will depart from the Visitor Center six times each day. The first tour is at 10:30 a.m. CST, with the last at 3:30 p.m., and the tours are limited to 40 people each.
Visitors who want to take the free tour must pick up their tickets at the visitor center ticket office prior to tour times.
Mammoth Cave also offered several "fee-free" days last year. The program is part of an effort by the National Park Service to encourage people to experience the park areas.
