Dominique Wilkins to speak in BG Monday
Former NBA All-Star and basketball hall of famer Dominique Wilkins will be at Hillvue Heights Church in Bowling Green on Monday to speak on living with diabetes.
Wilkins - who has Type 2 diabetes and was recently named Georgia’s diabetes ambassador - will be at the church from noon to 1 p.m. The event is free to the public.
Known for his high-flying slam dunks throughout a pro career that spanned 17 years, Wilkins was a seven-time NBA All-Star during a 12-year stint with the Atlanta Hawks.
Wilkins also won the NBA scoring title in 1986, was a member of the All-NBA First Team in 1986 and was named to the All-NBA Second Team on four separate occasions.
He may be best known for his highlight-reel plays, as Wilkins won the NBA Slam Dunk Championship in 1985 and 1990.
Wilkins finished his 15-year NBA career with an average of 24.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
