Prosecutors want murder defendant Steve Nunn's two daughters to testify on behalf of the state at his trial, slated to begin in August.
Mary Elizabeth Nunn of Bowling Green was served with a subpoena on April 6, according to Fayette Circuit Court records. Warren County authorities also tried to serve Katharine Courtney Nunn with a subpoena that day, but found that she had moved from Bowling Green to Louisville, according to court records. The Fayette Commonwealth's attorney's office requested that the women be subpoenaed, court records indicate.
Steve Nunn, 58, a former state lawmaker and the son of former Kentucky governor Louie B. Nunn, is accused in the death of Steve Nunn's former fiancee, Amanda Ross. The 29-year-old Lexington woman was found shot to death outside her home Sept. 11, 2009.
Authorities seized evidence from a Honda Accord belonging to one of Nunn's daughters, which was parked in the Cosby Cemetery in Hart County, where police found Nunn hours after the shooting.
Nunn asked to call his daughters after authorities found him at the cemetery, where his parents are buried. Nunn, who was found with slit wrists, also asked to call his daughters during an ambulance ride to a hospital, Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton said just after Nunn was taken into custody.
Nunn's trial is set to begin Aug. 1.
