Phil Moffett Raises $100,000 Total Since Entering Governor's Race (About $45,000 In Quarter), Spends More Than $100,000!

Moffett campaign raises $100K for governor's race

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Republican gubernatorial candidate Phil Moffett has raised more than $100,000 since entering the race, far less than his chief opponent in the May 17 primary.

The Louisville businessman filed a report with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance on Wednesday evening showing him trailing state Senate President David Williams by more than $1 million.

Moffett, Williams and Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw are facing off in the GOP primary for governor. The winner will face Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear in this fall's general election. Beshear has no primary opponent. Independent candidate Gatewood Galbriath also is expected to be on the general election ballot.

Moffett reported more than $45,0000 in contributions between Jan. 1 and April 15. He also reported spending more than $100,000 since entering the race.
