FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Republican secretary of state candidate Hilda Legg has picked up an endorsement from former Jefferson County Clerk Rebecca Jackson.
The Legg campaign announced the endorsement on Wednesday.
Jackson is a longtime GOP leader in Louisville, the state's largest city and a key battleground in the May 17 primary election.
Legg faces western Kentucky businessman Bill Johnson in the GOP primary.
In a statement released by the Legg campaign, Jackson said Legg has a strong work ethic and is a woman of integrity.
Legg headed the U.S. Rural Utilities Service under former President George W. Bush.
