Gatewood Galbraith/Dea Riley Campaign Calls For Abolition Of Kentucky's Public Service Commission.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Gatewood Galbraith and Dea Riley call for the Abolishment of the Kentucky Public Service Commission
Frankfort, Kentucky June 2, 2011 Gatewood and Riley 2011 today called for the abolishment of the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC). Gatewood Galbraith and his running mate Dea Riley believe the Public Service Commission in Kentucky is the poster child for big government. The PSC is a government bureaucracy that is unresponsive to the needs of the people.
The PSC has failed in protecting the interests of citizens of Kentucky and should be abolished. Under a Galbraith/Riley administration the duties and responsibilities of the Public Service Commission will be divided between the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office of Rate Intervention and the Department of Natural Resources. This will put the responsibility for fair utility rates in the hands of two different constitutional officers accountable to the voters and remove those responsibilities from the hands of political appointees.
The Public Service Commission has for too long put the interests of the corporations it regulates above the interests of the citizens of the Commonwealth, particularly those citizens living on fixed incomes.
Outrageous utility rate increases have been inflicted on the poorest areas of Kentucky. This will not be permitted to continue under a Galbraith/Riley administration.
This is one step in reducing the size of government and making it more accountable to the citizens of the Commonwealth.
