Our Condolences Go Out To Former Kentucky Governor (Now State Senator) Julian Carroll And Family, Whose Son Bradley Died Today In A One Car Accident.

Ex-Gov. Julian Carroll's son dies in car crash
By Jim Warren

A son of former Gov. Julian Carroll died Sunday after being injured in a traffic crash in Franklin County, authorities said.

Bradley Carroll, 47, was pronounced dead at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, where he was taken after the wreck.

The crash occurred about 12:15 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 421 near the Versailles Road overpass. Carroll's 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac was traveling south on the road when it left the right side of the road for "unknown reasons" and struck the overpass' embankment head on, said Franklin County Sheriff's Deputy Russ Persons. Carroll's vehicle was deflected off the embankment, traveled across two lanes of the road and struck a concrete median. The vehicle then caught on fire.

Two passersby pulled Carroll from the vehicle alive. He was transported to the Frankfort hospital, where he died.

The crash remains under investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, but authorities said they have no reason to suspect drugs or alcohol were involved.

Bradley Carroll, who lived on the Carroll family farm in Franklin County, was one of four grown children of Julian Carroll, who was Kentucky governor during the 1970s and is now a Democratic state senator representing parts of Franklin, Fayette, Woodford and Anderson counties. Bradley Carroll is survived by his father; his mother, Charlann; a brother; and two sisters.

Funeral arrangements were pending at the Harrod Brothers Funeral Home in frankfort.
