Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police Endorses Williams-Farmer for Governor
(Louisville) The Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police has voted to endorse the ticket of David Williams for Governor and Richie Farmer for Lt. Governor. The Kentucky state FOP lodge represents more than 9,300 law enforcement officers. The announcement was made during a morning press conference in downtown Louisville in front of the police officers' memorial.
"I am humbled and honored to receive this vote of confidence from Kentucky's police officers," said David Williams. "Those who serve and protect our lives and property put themselves on the line every day for all of us. To have won their endorsement and their confidence is an honor I shall never forget. Protecting the citizens of the Commonwealth is a top obligation of any governor. I will stand proudly with the men and women of law enforcement to accomplish that goal."
State FOP President Michael "Spike" Jones said Williams would be a good governor who would truly represent the interests of Kentucky law enforcement.
"We are pleased to offer our support and endorsement to Senator Williams in his bid for governor of Kentucky. He has been an adamant supporter of law enforcement and we are optimistic that he will be an advocate for us on key issues. We appreciate the backing he has given law enforcement during his career and feel very confident that we will have a seat at the table when his administration is formulating policies that affect law enforcement officers in the future," Jones said.
