Anne Northup: Welcome and do the "Rummy Shuffle"!
I have to take this opportunity to welcome U. S. Rep. Anne Northup to the sensible group to which I belong. The sensible group is the name of the group whose members are calling for the ouster of Rummy Rumsfeld. I am a founder of this group as I have been calling for the "Rummy Shuffle" for a very long time, but President Bush is stone deaf on this one. So the Sensibles want to welcome you to the group, Anne, and please join us as we do the Rummy Shuffle.

The only problem I have with the Rummy Shuffle is that the President is the Commander in Chief and he says that the commanders on the fields get what they want. The Commander in Chief says that the generals on the battle fields run the show. So I don't understand what replacing Rumsfeld would do. As Anne also said, Rumsfeld has been an excellent leader and very instrumental in reforming the defense department from a bureacracy into a department that had a purpose. If he's still doing that, I don't understand why he needs to go, especially since Bush says the generals in the field run the war.
Well, I do not for a moment entertain the thought that the Generals in the field run the war. I suspect that the Generals run the war as Rummy tells them and that the Generals are afraid to offend the boss. Rummy is that type of boss. We need someone who has a better idea, who will give the Generals a chance to plan and run the war themselves, who is less egoitistically Machevolian than Rummy. Bush senior is right about Rummy and Bush junior is tone deaf when it comes to Rummy. We DESERVE a change and the time is NOW.
The whole problem is that Anne is knuckling under to fear. Fear of losing the election, that is.
The insurgents/terrorists are upping their attacks to deliberately sway the election in favor of democrats who will choose to cut and run from Iraq and withdraw our troops. The enemy knows this and unfortunately, Anne is playing right into their hands.
The GOP needs to get out the message to the people ASAP that voting for democrats means that we are giving into the terrorists and we will lose the war if we withdraw. The enemy is planning and hoping for exactly this to occur. That means that all of our lives lost and efforts will have been for nothing.
I am disappointed with Anne big time on this one. She should have known better that this and been able to see thorugh their strategy and relay it to her constituantes. Replacing Rumsfeld won't change a thing.
Our troops are dying because we are being overly cautious to not kill the innocent Iraqi civilians, who the enemy lives amongst. If we wanted to win without few casualties of our own, we could simply bomb everyone there and kill them all instead. We cannot distinguish the enemy from anyone else because they don't wear uniforms. This is the very same tactic which cost us so many of out soldiers lives in Viet Nam. The enemy is often hidden in plain sight.
I think that we should just attack and wipe out most of their armed men as there is no other successful solution in my opinion. The enemy is so deeply entrenched over there, and even their police forces are corrupted with them through and through. You can't get rid of the rats unless you wipe out the whole nest of them.
The other thing that really hampers our effort is their extremist religion over there who sees virtue in killing and viloence. You cannot ever win when the people there alive and free on the streets who have such a mentality.
Anne is FINALLY free to speak her mind without having to toe the Republican Party line. Maybe, it took the fear you allude to her to set her free, but free she is nonetheless and her invitation to do the Rummy Shuffle stands.
