Justice statistics STILL show it may be a crime to "Drive While Black (DWB)".
Many of you may have heard the claims/assertions that Blacks are more likely than other ethnic groups to be stopped, searched, ticketed or jailed or to complain of excessive use of force by police for the "crime" of "Driving While Black". Now the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics (the recognized authority on such subject) has issued its report, which seems to confirm that if you are Black or Brown, as opposed to another skin color, you are more likely to hear "may I see your license and registration, please?"

We all know how easy it is to justify any pre-ordained conclusion by the use of statistics. This nation has made valiant strides to end segregation and discrimination the past forty years. Aberrant behavior, not profiling, is the major obstacle of groups who haven't fully assimilated into the mainstream.
I'm sure in some places it is.
No doubt we have made great strides in race relations, but acknowledging that fact does NOT relieve us of the MORAL duty to NOT turn a blind eye to what's happening around us -- racially speaking.
Osi, I think your good intentions stir up the Al Sharptons of the world. We can use less of his ilk, and more citizens like Bill Cosby. Anyone, black or white, who breaks the law should be prosecuted.
The Al Sharptons of the world don't need me to stir them up. They stir themselves up. I agree with you that Justice should be blind -- including being color blind!
