Breaking news: Another Bush appointee QUITS ...
... this time it's the President's spokesman, Tony Snow, whose resignation is effective September 14th. He will be replaced by his deputy, the beautiful Dana Perino, who will definitely cause some men (not me -- I'm married) to watch the press briefings.
I expect more resignations to come soon.

I'm sure more resignations will come soon as you say, but that's typical in the final months of a lame-duck presidency. Bush has asked that anyone who doesn't intend to stay until the end, go on and resign in the next couple weeks, so the steady string doesn't go on and on. In Snow's case, I think it would've been difficult for him to commit to the end, given the aggressive return of his cancer.
Not that I'm a Bush apologist or anything, but the headline and conclusion of your article did sound like you were implying a terrible administration crisis - maybe it was unintentional.
For all practical purposes, the Bush administration is already in its final "caretaker" days with no chance to further any agenda; the best it can do now is avoid making the inevitable start of Iraq withdrawal into a replay of 1975, to strategically veto the most noxious of the Democrats' congressional legislation, and to fend off anticipated attack-style committee investigations by whatever tactics it can still muster.
Again, nich. con., your insights are always appreciated. Thanks.
