Louisville Councilman Doug Hawkins Serving His Constituents Well

It is a simple thing to do, but it sets Councilman Hawkins apart from the rest when he is willing to not only inform his constituents about the good things going on in his district, but to also inform them about the bad things going on. Not only does this help keep the people informed, but it may generate activism in his community directed at combating crime, etc. It's a situation where some people would immediately start pointing fingers at Hawkins and demanding he "do something about it." However, being up front about the issues - good and bad - lets his constituents know that he needs their help. He can't do it alone!

A few days ago, I got an email alert from Hawkins' office informing residents about a murder that had taken place in the district. Then yesterday I got another email with detailed crime reports, and fraud/theft prevention tips. This is on top of more routine emails Hawkins has sent out before.
