Breaking news: Republican U. S. Senator from Mississippi, Trent Lott, is set to retire before year's end.
Read it here.
Lott's retirement would become the sixth for Republican Senators this election cycle.
With Republican Haley Barbour as Governor, the Republican Party is in a good favored position to keep the seat in what should be a HOTLY contested seat, with the "usual suspects" lining up to run for the seat.
Stay tuned.
Update: Arizona's Republican U. S. Senator, Jon Kyl, is the "first out of the gate" to run to replace Trent Lott as Minority Whip.
We wonder if our Mitch McConnell has a preference for the position.
