Greg Stumbo leaves office as Attorney General with "no regrets", reveals investigation of Fletcher's administration turned over to feds, etc. .

This past Friday was Greg Stumbo's last day as Kentucky Attorney General. He says he has "no regrets" and reveals that he has turned over documents concerning his investigation of the Fletcher's administrations merit system violations and "corruption" problems at the Transportation Cabinet (where federal funds may have been misused -- over to the U. S. Attorney's office.

That is not the surprise from the interview for me; the surprise was his revelation that many in his own party -- people like former Governors John Y. Brown Jr. and Julian Carroll -- put pressure on him not to seek an indictment against Fletcher.

That indictment was a BIG reason for Fletcher's defeat.

"Personally, I didn't want to see the governor indicted," Stumbo said to that suggestion. "What we did was exactly what the system called for doing. We let the grand jury decide what to do. ... Greg Stumbo never indicted the governor. A grand jury did."

No matter what one may have thought about Stumbo and his actions against Fletcher, one thing is CLEAR, as observed by Stumbo: "I would have wagered my house at that time that the situation would not have turned out as it did, ... If he had worked with us, he still might be governor."

Then Stumbo continued his wise observance:

"What transformed him to take a defiant approach towards me and the investigation, I don't know. I'm convinced he was talked into it, but his initial position was the real Ernie Fletcher, in my opinion."

So right you are, sir. So right you are. It is called getting BAD advise.
