Is John McCain a "natural born" citizen eligible to become the President of the United States?

That is the INTRIGUING question that no one yet knows the answer to yet and inquiring minds are wanting to know.

Why, you ask?

John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, where his father was stationed in the military!

FYI update: the First Clause of the Second Article of the U. S. Constitution provides:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; ... .

When McCain was born, the Canal Zone was a US possession. So unless natural-born citizens of US territories/possessions are similarly ineligible to run for president, this shouldn't be debatable. The Canal Zone was US soil, McCain was born in the Canal Zone, ergo, McCain is a natural-born US citizen.

And I'm not a McCain supporter either.

FYI: Article 2 of the Constitution states:

The Constitution is silent as to U. S. possessions, though I am certain that the U. S. Supreme Court will (or may have -- I have NOT researched the issue!) read that into the provision and decide that persons born in the U. S. possessions are included!!

And I support John McCain (my second choice behind Fred Thompson) as nominee for the Republican Party!!!
