It's OFFICIAL: Governor Elliot "Sexcapades" Spitzer has resigned effective Monday, St. Patrick's Day, March 17th.

I'll update this post with an embed, but with the turn of events, Lt. Governor David A. Paterson, an African American, will become New York state's FIRST.

"To whom much is given, much is expected", said the Governor.

Elliot Spitzer now joins a shamed list of politians (see below):

See a gallery of sex shamed politicians.

SHOCKING, if you ask me, but I did NOT expect the resignation, though I suspect the Feds did NOT give him a choice.

Why the Feds, you ask?

Well, the crimes Spitzer committed are federal crimes.

What are the crimes, you ask?

Two, at least, that I can think of:

(1) The Governor violated the Mann Act, by transporting, or facilitating the transportation of humans across state lines for purposes of prostitution. The crime is a felony (and there are likely multiple counts); and,

(2) Money laundering, by setting up a shell game to hide his money transactions -- said to be more than $80,000.00 -- for the purpose of hiding the trail of payments to prostitutes, also a felony (probably multiple counts).

OH BTW: For those of you counting, Elliot Spitzer also is a Clinton Super Delegate now LOST and CANNOT be replaced.

Here is the embed, as promised:

Who are we kidding here?

This was about pissing off the wrong people.

Prostitution is not a long-lived industry because there are only a few customers.

No, I'm not a prostitute and would never sell myself...for anything

Men always pay for SEX, he made the mistake of using CASH!

Um, this is not about him pissing off "the wrong people". It is about an official, whose salary is paid by the people who elected him to prosecute and eliminate this type of crime, breaking the very laws he put in place. I'd say he pretty much pissed everyone off. Those of us with morals and a sense of decency that is.
