"Phantom money", "cold checks" and in"efficiences": Steve Beshear and Harry Moberly continue their war of words.

The war of words between Governor Steve Beshear and Harry Moberly, Chair of the House Budget Committee, continued today. Here's the earlier (read update, where Moberly called Beshear "irresponsible", "petulent" and in need of an "attitude adjustment"!) and here's the latest:

Beshear repeated his earlier criticism of the House budget proposal, saying it includes "phantom money" that would require him to write "cold checks."

In particular, Beshear contends his budget proposal already includes $85 million in savings each year from a wave of expected retirees looking to take advantage of a generous benefit that expires Dec. 31.

Moberly said Beshear is wrong and accused him of trying to avoid making state government more efficient. "He doesn't want any requirement for any efficiencies."

Stay tuned as this war of words continue UNABATED.
