I don't know about you, but I prefer that government NOT take my money as a tax in the first place.
Taking it, and then trying to give it back to me in the form of a rebate, NOT only convinces me government shouldn't have taken it -- because government OBVIOUSLY did NOT need it to begin with, but my intelligence is insulted by the pander of a refund, whether in the form of a rebate or whatever!

Anyone with half a brain knows that McCain's and Clinton's "gas tax holiday" is a pander that won't work, as it's supply & demand that makes the price so high, not a measly 5% tax.
Great post!! This speaks to the fact that the vast majority of the "guys" on the Hill want us to buy the myth that we can't do it on our own so they have to do it for us. Thats un -american at the core ! our country was built by self made, up by the boot straps people. to accept anything less we sell ourselves short!! Keep the favors. Get out of my way! Let my attitude determine my altitude. thats freedom!
