Last Post For Kentucky, Governor Steve Beshear Makes FIRST Supreme Court Appointment. Read My Comments Below.

The new Justice?

From the C-J (You can also read more from Ronnie Ellis):

Former Circuit Judge Daniel J. Venters of Somerset, who will fill the Kentucky Supreme Court seat vacated by the retirement of Chief Justice Joseph Lambert.

Venters, a Republican, will serve only until a Nov. 4 special election unless he is elected to fill out the final two years of Lambert’s term.

Beshear selected Venters over former Court of Appeals Judge R.W. “Robbie” Dyche III of London and Circuit Judge Eddie C. Lovelace of Albany; all three were recommended by a judicial nominating commission.

Editor's comment: The fact that the new justice did NOT see fit, like many others, to switch political party registration to win the Governor's favor, and the fact that the Governor picked a Republican for the post, endear BOTH of them to my dear heart.

But as you can read from the C-J, an all out BATTLE is brewing in the race this November, fireworks and all.

Stay tuned.
