Unless Trey Grayson Can Coral Undecideds Against Rand Paul (Possible) And Jack Conway Can Do The Same Against Dan Mongiardo (UNLIKELY), Race Is Over.

Mongiardo, Paul lead U.S. Senate races
By Joseph Gerth
Democratic Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo and Republican Rand Paul enjoy large leads in their U.S. Senate primary campaigns, according to the latest Courier-Journal/WHAS11 Bluegrass Poll.
But no matter who wins the two primaries, the polling suggests the general election will be close. Poll respondents said they are about equally as likely to vote for a Democrat as for a Republican in November.
In the Democratic primary, Mongiardo leads Attorney General Jack Conway by a margin of 45-27 percent — with advantages everywhere in the state except for Conway’s home turf of Louisville.
The poll, conducted by SurveyUSA, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
On the Republican side, Paul holds a 42-27 percent advantage over Secretary of State Trey Grayson and leads most demographic groups and all areas of the state. That poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.7 percentage points.
Nineteen percent of the respondents in both polls said they were undecided. Lesser-known candidates in the Democratic poll received combined support of 9 percent, while lesser-known Republicans got a total of 11 percent.
The poll was conducted March 1-3, a period when Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., was coming under heavy Democratic criticism for blocking extended unemployment benefits for about 1 million workers. Bunning isn’t seeking re-election, and this year’s race is to fill his seat.
The polling also was done at a time when the major candidates have only recently begun airing television ads to introduce themselves — meaning many voters may not have formed strong opinions.
But the poll shows that Mongiardo and Paul have expanded on leads they held last November, when SurveyUSA polled in the race for WHAS11. At that time, Paul led Grayson by 3 percentage points while Mongiardo led Conway by 11.
Editor's comment: But then again, one of the leading candidates could do something BUFFOONERY, to snatch defeat from the joys of victory.

As I have said before, and I will repeat to anyone... See More… If Rand Paul wins the GOP Primary in Kentucky, I will vote for Mongiardo in the general election. In my opinion, Paul would not only be bad for Kentucky but he would be bad for the GOP. I certainly wouldn’t have, in good conscience, voted for David Duke if he ran as a Republican, so likewise I wouldn’t vote for the anti-Israeli Paul. The idea that a Kentucky Republican would have a problem with Israel having nukes, but has no problem with Iran having them is beyond words wrong to me. The idea that a Kentucky Republican would feel that we don’t have the right to have our troops around the world protecting our citizens before the terrorists are knocking at our doors, again, is crazy.
I think Paul is as much a Republican as Obama is a centrist.
At least Mongiardo supports the NRA and is proud of it. I got a 4 page "pro-2nd" (I debate how really pro-gun he is) thing that went on and on about his members in other organizations but NEVER once mentioned his life membership in the NRA. That speaks VOLUMES to me about what kind of Politician Rand Paul is (read: will sell his soul for power).
