Republican U.S. Senate nominee Rand Paul received $1.1 million in contributions during the last three months, Paul’s campaign chairman said Thursday.
That is the most Paul has raised in any quarter in the race, said David Adams.
Jesse Benton, Paul’s campaign manager, said the campaign is pleased with the quarterly results and said “the money continues to flow in.” The campaign received more than $40,000 in checks on Thursday to kick off the third quarter, he said.
Adams said he could not provide figures on how much the campaign spent in the quarter, which included the final weeks of the May 18 primary election against Secretary of State Trey Grayson, or on how much cash the campaign has on hand to take on Attorney Jack Conway, the Democratic nominee.
Conway’s campaign will not release information on his contributions before filing the required quarterly report, said Allison Haley, the campaign spokeswoman. That report is due from both candidates July 15.
She declined comment on the amount of money Paul’s campaign said it raised.
Paul raised $172,000 during a 24-hour Internet “money bomb” earlier this week in an attempt to push his fund-raising numbers up by the end of the reporting quarter on June 30.
He also benefited from a June 24 fundraiser in Washington, D.C., hosted by Republican U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, where individual tickets went for $1,000 apiece.
Conway has also implored donors to push up his quarter-ending contributions in recent days.
