"Let’s Re-Elect Brett Guthrie To Congress". I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE!
Let’s re-elect Brett Guthrie to Congress
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
This is how we feel about the capable job that U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie, R-Bowling Green, has done representing the 2nd District of our state over the past two years.
In those two years, Guthrie has worked very hard for the people of this district and has gotten on some influential committees that benefit the district.
Guthrie gets the people of the 2nd District. He has done his best to stop the radical agendas of President Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
He rightfully opposed three pieces of the Obama/Pelosi agenda that the majority of Americans didn’t want. They were their version of the health care law, the $787 billion wasteful stimulus bill and cap and trade.
Although Obamacare and the stimulus bills passed because Democrats hold a large majority in both the House and Senate, Guthrie was on the right side of these votes, which suggests that he will continue to oppose the radical ideas of this administration. He continues to argue against the passage of a cap-and-trade bill.
While in his first term, Guthrie introduced the Workforce Investment Improvement Act (H.R. 4271).
This piece of legislation would reauthorize the Workforce Investment Act and make updates to our job training, adult education and vocational rehabilitation services to assist displaced, unemployed and underemployed workers in receiving additional education and job training.
Guthrie, who served in the 101st Airborne Division, is also very in tune with the needs of soldiers and their families in the 2nd District, which has a strong military presence.
Guthrie introduced a bill to provide dependents of servicemen and servicewomen killed in combat after Sept. 11, 2001, the same health care coverage they received while the soldier was alive.
Another bill, which passed the House unanimously Dec. 2, was a resolution recognizing the importance of teaching elementary and secondary school students about the sacrifices that veterans have made throughout the history of our nation.
These are some big accomplishments for a first-term congressman.
Overall, Guthrie represents the values of the 2nd District, which is a conservative district. He is pro-Second Amendment, pro-life, against same-sex marriages and is for building and maintaining a strong military.
It is very telling that his opponent, Ed Marksberry of Owensboro, hasn’t even spent $5,000 in the race against Guthrie. This shows that the National Democratic Party realized that this is a race they couldn’t win or they would have pumped more money into Marksberry’s campaign.
Guthrie has a bright future ahead of him in Washington, D.C. He has been a strong defender of our district while serving in Congress and he will continue to stand up against the Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda when it exits the mainstream, which is often.
For the reasons we have mentioned, we proudly endorse Congressman Brett Guthrie for re-election to Congress.
