And Also Another Expectation Yeilds 10 Day Suspension For Kentucky Family Court Judge, Tamra Gormley.

Family court judge given 10-day suspension
By Beth Musgrave

FRANKFORT — A family court judge has agreed to serve a 10-day suspension without pay in connection with judicial misconduct charges stemming from a child custody case.

This is the second disciplinary proceeding against Judge Tamra Gormley, whose district includes Scott, Woodford and Bourbon counties. In November 2009, Gormley was given a 45-day suspension without pay. She has asked the state Supreme Court to reconsider that case, and she has not yet served that suspension.

According to a Sept. 12 order from the Judicial Conduct Commission, the commission dismissed five counts relating to orders that Gormley entered in all three of her assigned counties that prohibited parents with drug problems from contacting their children until the parents had four successive weeks of clean drug screens. The Judicial Conduct Commission had alleged that Gormley had failed to hold hearings to determine whether there was abuse or neglect in those cases.

Gormley denied those charges.

In the agreed settlement order released this week, Gormley conceded that she failed to recuse herself from a custody case during a hearing March 11 in Woodford County after the Court of Appeals ruled that Rowan County was the appropriate forum for the case.

The commission said Gormley failed to take action until after she received a letter from the commission on July 12. A special judge was appointed to the case on Aug. 25.

The order says Gormley will serve her 10-day suspension without pay at the same time as her 45-day suspension. However, the order also says that even if the Supreme Court reverses her previous suspension, Gormley must serve the 10-day suspension.
