Last week, Governor Steve Beshear asked you to join him and stop Senator David Williams’ assault on our shared Commonwealth values.
But even after voices from all over Kentucky urged him to stop his dangerous game, Senator Williams adjourned the State Senate without reaching a common sense solution to balance the Medicaid budget, playing politics with Kentuckians’ health.
Governor Beshear called the General Assembly back into a special session today because the hard-working people of Kentucky deserve elected officials who do their job and not politicians like Senator Williams who flee their responsibilities.
That special session starts today and we can’t be silent.

games, do his job and pass Governor Beshear's bipartisan solution.
Senator Williams needs to do his job, and people across the state agree. Last Friday, the Courier-Journal voiced its support for Governor Beshear's bipartisan plan to balance the Medicaid budget, as well as the Governor's efforts to raise the dropout age to 18:
Gov. Beshear has presented a thoughtful and less-painful approach to the Medicaid shortfall. Sen. Williams has not. And his legislative body has been missing in action on the dropout bill.
Senator Williams’ inaction will cost our kids a better education and cost hard working Kentuckians jobs in the future. We can’t let him turn this into a political game. Governor Beshear has a reasonable and bipartisan plan that Williams has refused to consider.
