When You See My Friend Damon Thayer, Thank Him For Kentucky Tranperency In Government Law.
General Assembly passes transparency legislation
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The General Assembly has given final approval to legislation that would require all government agencies to post financial information on the Internet.
The Senate voted 33-0 on Tuesday afternoon to pass the bill, which essentially codifies existing practices of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of state government. The Senate vote came just minutes after the House voted 95-0 to pass the measure.
Republican Sen. Damon Thayer of Georgetown, the bill's sponsor, said the measure simply ensures that all three branches of government continue doing what they are already doing.
Gov. Steve Beshear's administration began putting financial info online more than two years ago. Both the legislative and judicial branches have followed since then.

The legislation is Senate Bill 7.
