Appeals Court Denies Karen "Knee Pads" Sypher's Latest Appeal, She's To Report To Prison In Florida Today. Good Riddance.

Sypher appeal denied, reports to prison Wednesday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- The woman convicted of trying to extort money from University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino is due to report to prison on Wednesday after being denied another request to remain free during her appeals.

Karen Cunagin Sypher asked the U.S. Court of Appeals to keep her out of prison while she appeals her conviction and 87-month sentence. The court denied the request Tuesday, agreeing with a lower court judge who denied the request last week.

Sypher's attorney, David Nolan, has asked the appeals court to reconsider its ruling. Nolan did not return a call seeking comment Wednesday.

Sypher was convicted in August of extortion, lying to the FBI and retaliation against a witness. Prosecutors say she sought millions from Pitino to stay quiet about a 2003 sexual encounter.
