Hearing In Richie Versus Rebecca Farmer Divorce Case Set For May 26.

Hearing in Farmer divorce case set for May 26

FRANKFORT – The court hearing in Rebecca Farmer’s divorce suit against her husband, state Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer, is set for May 26.

That is nine days after the May 17 primary election in which Richie Farmer is a candidate for lieutenant governor on the Republican ticket of gubernatorial candidate David Williams.

Richie Farmer’s attorney, Richard M. Guarnieri of Frankfort, said Thursday that the election date was not a factor in setting the date for the court hearing.

Guarnieri said Franklin Family Court Judge Squire Williams III gave him and Rebecca Farmer’s attorney, Brian A. Logan of Frankfort, a few possible dates for the hearing.

“We took the first one when Brian and I could be available,” Guarnieri said.

Logan was not immediately available for comment.

Rebecca Farmer, 37, filed for divorce on April 5, two days after the couple separated. She has given no reason for the filing in court documents but has claimed that Farmer “has limited her access to the parties’ finances” and that the only money she has comes from her net monthly income of less than $1,100 as a teacher’s aide in the Franklin County school system.

Farmer, 41, has responded in court that he disagrees with her statements that their marriage of 13 years cannot be reconciled and that she should have custody and control of their three children.

Farmer is a former University of Kentucky basketball star. He makes $110,346 a year as agriculture commissioner.
