A Bowling Green woman who had been pregnant was found dead early this morning of an apparent homicide in a wooded area off U.S. 68-Ky. 80 in the Oakland community, Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney Chris Cohron said.
The body of Jamie Stice, 21, was found this morning in woods near an abandoned home between the 2300 and 2500 blocks of 68-80.
Cohron declined to comment about the status of Stice’s baby.
Kentucky State Police found Stice’s body today after receiving a call about a suspicious birth at The Medical Center at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, KSP Post 3 spokesman Trooper Jonathan Biven said.
At The Medical Center, detectives interviewed Kathy Michelle Coy, 33, of Morgantown, who is charged with kidnapping and murdering Stice, Cohron said.
Coy was arraigned in Warren District Court this morning. Because this case could be eligible for the death penalty, Coy is being held at the Warren County Regional Jail without bond, Cohron said.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday in Warren District Court Division I.
The investigation is ongoing and being led by state police Detective Chad Winn. KSP received assistance in the case from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and the Bowling Green Police Department, Biven said.
Editor's comment: I wonder if the accused will be very "Coy" about telling us what happened.
