Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton Returns To Work Pending Sentencing And Possible Appeal Of Two Felony Federal Convictions For Witness Tampering.
Eaton case is ongoing until final judgment
GLASGOW — Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton was convicted on two felony counts of witness tampering at the end of a nine-day trial last week, but his case is not over yet, and neither is his time as sheriff.Eaton returned to work this week after being on trial for allegedly beating suspect Billy Randall Stinnett after he was handcuffed on Feb. 24, 2010, and then lying to federal investigators about the incident. Eaton was acquitted of the assault, of lying to investigators and of destroying evidence, but he was convicted of witness tampering. The two other defendants, Barren County Deputy Aaron Bennett and Barren-Edmonson County Drug Task Force Detective Eric Guffey, were acquitted of all charges against them.
