Beware Of Friday, The 13Th: Judge Sets Friday, 13Th As The Day For Richie Farmer To Plead Guilty To Federal Felony Charge(s).

Judge sets Friday the 13th plea date for Farmer

Former University of Kentucky basketball star Richie Farmer will appear in federal court next Friday, Sept. 13, to enter a guilty plea in a government corruption case.

U.S. District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove entered an order Friday setting the date.

Farmer's attorney, Guthrie True of Frankfort, had filed a motion for a change of plea Thursday morning, signaling that he had reached agreements to resolve all charges related to Farmer's tenure as agriculture commissioner.

Farmer had been scheduled to stand trial Oct. 22 on a five-count federal indictment. He has remained free pending trial.
Farmer, who led the Kentucky Department of Agriculture from 2004 through 2011, faces about two years in prison under the plea deal. He could have been sentenced to 10 years in prison at trial.
