Al Qaeda's CRUEL response to "surge" successes in Iraq's Anber province.
Ex-insurgent who sought to turn U. S. ally, and who became Washington's symbol of wartime success in the Anbar province in Iraq as a leader of the Sunni sect, Sheik Abdul Sattar Abu Risha, was today assassinated by Al-Qaeda, dealing a setback to efforts in that part of the world and making it hard for U. S. to recruit needed allies in the war.
