I understand the Republicans needed a token southerner in this race, but they could have done a lot better than Fred Thompson. This guy has no potential.
Can you expand on that?
He had to be thrown into the race like a kid who can't swim into a pool. If you don't act like you want to be president, you're not going to be president. Just look at his campaign - it started falling apart before it was even made official! The insiders saw him as a convenient Dixiecrat compromise to save them from liberal drag queen from New York/Massachusetts Mormon/dead-man-walking. Wishful thinking. A Saviour Fred Thompson is not.
Perhaps by the time January rolls around the Republicans will wake up and start taking Ron Paul seriously.
