Stumbo demands proportionality on Boards, Fletcher demurs.

The battle over the proportional representation of party affiliated members on our state Boards of Regents has reached a new level, as Greg Stumbo demands compliance with state law and Gov. Fletcher, through his General Counsel, demurs.

Stay tuned to see where this goes from here.

Update: Stumbo threatens a lawsuit.

Do you think the law is constitutional? I mean, can you really tell a person, "Oops, sorry you can't be appointed" or "oops, you have to resign because of your affiliation with one political party"?

On its face, without doing research; the law is unenforceable because it discriminates on the basis of political party. Thats my take on it.
