Local Attorney John Rogers joins fellow Democrat, Steve Newberry, who earlier announced his candidacy in November.

On the Republican side is Jeff Jobe, a publisher of several regional weekly newspapers who had earlier previously announced he is running.

This upcoming year will test whether a Republican can retain the seat currently held by a Republican or whether a previous top ticket candidate who shall remain nameless has so poisoned the political waters that a Democrat will emulate Steve Beshear and snatch another one from Republicans.

(To ALL you POLITICOs who want to know: Steve Beshear carried the District, which has been represented by a Republican, Richie Sanders, for many years!).
